Brenda Lynn Mackay (Netrefa) completed her final journey on June 19th, 2024, after bravely battling illness and multiple autoimmune disorders. She embodied great inner strength and resilience, consistently overcoming every challenge with a positive, loving presence for her family and friends.
Born on February 1st 1965, in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Brenda eventually made Red Deer, Alberta, her forever home. She dedicated herself to a lengthy career as a Housekeeper for the David Thompson Health Region (AHS), during which she formed lasting friendships. Brenda is survived by her cherished daughter, Sarah (Adam), her vibrant granddaughters, Harper (5) and Aubree (3), her sisters Terri (Hugh) and Tammi, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Joyce Netrefa, her sister Dianne, and brothers Dwain, Doug, and Mark.
Known as a diligent worker and a loving mother, Brenda took immense pride in her daughter, creating cherished memories filled with music, bike rides, good food, and laughter. She played a crucial role in Sarah’s life, imparting love and joy that will guide her always. Brenda eagerly anticipated becoming a grandmother, embracing her role with wholehearted love for Harper and Aubree, who brought boundless joy to her life. While we deeply grieve the loss of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, we find solace in knowing that Brenda was surrounded by many visitors, receiving love and well wishes as she embarked on her next journey.
In accordance with Brenda’s wishes, a private memorial and inurnment will be held at a future date.
