Bertha was born in High Prairie Alberta to Alcide and Delphine Beaudry. Bertha was one of eight children raised at Peavine Metis settlement.
Bertha left Peavine when she was 18 years old then moved to Peace River, Alberta where she began working. While working as a waitress she met a young man by the name of Don Lizotte. They then fell in love and married in 1961.
Bertha and Don set up house and had the first son Brian in 1961. Daughter Donna was then born in 1962 and another son Bobby (Robert) in 1964.
Darcy (Christopher), who was Donald’s nephew, was adopted in 1966. Sheila, who was Bertha’s niece, came to the family in 1976.

She met many musicians at local jams in Peace River and then met a lot more in Red Deer, she enjoyed playing along with all of the fellow musicians. Bertha enjoyed the talents of the musicians, as well as hosting celebrations with musicians, family and friends at their home.

Bertha loved all of her family and was the glue for everyone getting together for her fabulous Christmas dinners. Family and friends enjoyed the treats she made for everyone; bannock, doughboys, cinnamon buns were some of her specialties and she made sure everyone had enough to eat at all times.
Bertha, in retirement, enjoyed getting together with friends, playing cards, walking and spending time with the grandchildren.
Bertha was predeceased by her parents, siblings, daughter Donna and her youngest son Bobby (Robert).
