1939 – 2017
Bernard “Bernie” Allan Larson of Spruce Grove, AB, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the age of 78 years after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer. Bernie was born in October, 1939, in Daysland AB to parents Roger and Anne Larson. Bernie attended elementary school in Killam, AB and later graduated from Scona Composite High in Edmonton, AB. While in High School he was active in football and all sports were a very important part of his life. He would continue playing baseball and golf for many years. After he graduated he was most proud of going to University to obtain a degree. His professional life began in finance, then owning a Ford Mercury dealership, and ultimately, he found his life’s passion in real estate where he was an outstanding teacher, manager, sales professional and mentor for 43 years. Bernie is survived by daughters Connie (Jon) Larson-Haratyk of Corona, California, Debbie (Ron) Christensen of Mapleton, Utah and Shellie (Kevin) Larson-Garland of Sylvan Lake AB; two step-daughters Shirley (Kevin) Bre-Win and Lori (Kevin) Wolfe, both of Spruce Grove AB; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister Marlene (Gary) Homan; Corliss Larson, his forever friend of 32 years, as well as numerous extended family members and friends. Bernie was predeceased by his father, mother, and step father, Herman Hansen; his wife of 22 years Marie Larson, and three grandchildren, Jordan Stokes (35), Randie McCrostie (22), and Austin Stokes (21). Special thanks to Dr. Chris Venner and all the staff at the Cross Cancer Institute. A Funeral Service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Spruce Grove AB and interment took take place in Lethbridge AB. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Multiple Myeloma Support Society of Alberta http://multiplemyeloma.ca/donate/ or to a charity of one’s choice.
