Beatrice Cecelia (Lerouge) Kauhaahaa
August 25, 1940 – October 27, 2025
Beatrice Cecelia Kauhaahaa passed away peacefully in Ponoka, Alberta, on October 27, 2025, at the age of 85. Born and raised in Red Deer, Cecelia lived a life filled with love, adventure, and devotion to family.
She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, John, and her parents, Camille and Catherine Lerouge. She is lovingly remembered by her children; Camille of Edmonton, Alberta; Thomas (Patricia) of San Antonio, Texas; and Alexandra (Thomas) of Kirkland, Washington; and grandchildren, Malia, Kelani, Emily, Evan, Kai, Ella-Grace, and Patrick. She is also survived by sisters Marguerite Watson of Red Deer, Alberta and Aline Philbin of Long Island, New York; brothers Camille Lerouge of Calgary and Robert Lerouge of Red Deer as well as many nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary, Cecelia worked as a Labor and Delivery nurse in San Francisco, California, later moving to Honolulu, Hawaii, where she met and married John. In 1974, Cecelia and John returned to Red Deer to raise their family. Cecelia continued to work in Labor and Delivery at the Red Deer Regional Hospital for many years. She loved knitting, making special Christmas stockings for family and close friends. She was an avid sports fan and particularly enjoyed cheering on the Edmonton Oilers. She enjoyed spending summers in Sylvan Lake and holidays with family and friends. Her adventurous spirit, quick wit, and sense of humor will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5508 48A Avenue, Red Deer, on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury.
A heartfelt thank you to Valerie and Ken Olesen for their unwavering love, friendship, kindness, loyalty and support to Cecelia and her family. We are deeply grateful for you both, you will forever be part of our family.
