1928 – In loving memory of Arthur John Unger – 2023
Arthur John Unger of Red Deer, AB passed away peacefully at the Hamlets in Red Deer on
August 19, 2023 at the age of 95. Arthur, the eldest of eight children was born to Millie (Bender) and Peter Unger in Swift Current, SK. Arthur was always a hard worker and after working from a young age in various industries, he farmed briefly in the Redvers, SK area. Shortly after, he moved back to Lampman and became self-employed purchasing his own tanker truck and hauling oil for Bowman and Spearing. At the same time he owned a machine shop and car wash in Lampman. Arthur loved to golf and fish and would generally out-fish whomever he was with. His family treasures his beautiful handmade wood crafts which were lovingly and expertly made. Arthur cherished his family and spent much time with them during his last few years. These memories will be held dear by his family.
Arthur is survived by former spouse, Bernice Storlie and their children Debora (Brian) Lemco, Kim (Richard) Courchaine, Tracy (Loren) Mozill, Dave (Karla) Unger and Dan (Susan) Unger; stepchildren Roxanne (Ross) Hamilton, Debbie Bos, Rockwell Bos; 13 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and numerous special nieces and nephews.
Arthur is predeceased by his spouse Paula Unger; parents Millie and Peter Unger; sisters Lorraine, Irene, Dorothy and Margorie; brothers Gordon, Bob, Allan and Glen.
A celebration of life will be held for family, extended family and close friends at 2 pm September 21st at Pioneer Lodge 4324 46a Ave in Red Deer. Arthur’s family would like to thank the staff at The Hamlets and Revera Inglewood in Red Deer for excellent and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Lending Cupboard #1-7803 50 Ave, Red Deer, AB T4P 1M8 would be appreciated by the family.
