ANDREW GRANT FORSYTH
May 22, 1950 – January 3, 2026
Andrew Grant Forsyth, known to many as Andy, passed away on January 3, 2026, at the age of 75.
Andy was known for his charisma and charm, possessing a personality that naturally drew people to him. Even in unfamiliar settings, his warmth and presence allowed him to make new friends wherever he went. Despite being born with spina bifida and facing significant health challenges from birth, Andy demonstrated remarkable resilience. He overcame these obstacles to become a skilled millwright and welder, earning his Red Seal certifications and acquiring several other journeyman tickets.
Andy’s determination and expertise led him to oversee multi-million-dollar mining operations at Mt. Hundere in Yukon and manage numerous turnaround projects across Canada. He also served as a Mechanical Foreman for Ledcor for many years, showcasing his leadership and dedication to his profession.
At his core, Andy loved the outdoors, nature, and all kinds of animals. Growing up on a farm, he raised cows, pigs, chickens, and other livestock—a passion that continued as he and his wife raised lambs and sheep for five years. He took pride in calling himself a sheep farmer. But for his wife of 32 years, Andy was much more than that; he was regarded as her “Professor in Life,” imparting wisdom and inspiration to her and those around him.
A true outdoorsman, Andy loved nature, animals, and farm life. He enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, gardening, travelling by motorhome, and working with his tools.
Andy was predeceased by his parents, James and Marjorie Forsyth; his sister, Vivian Diane Forsyth-Danser, and his brother, Don Forsyth.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Perez Forsyth of Red Deer, AB; his brothers Walter (Corrine) of Hythe, AB, Neal (Surasneeya Garwin) of Rimbey, AB, David of Sicamous, BC, Barry of Battleford, SK, and Stanley (Guylaine) of Mirror, AB; his aunt, Irene Grant of Bashaw, AB; and many relatives, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on January 17, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Eventide Funeral Home, Red Deer, Alberta.
The family extends sincere thanks to the medical teams, caregivers, neighbours, and friends for their compassionate support.
