Amy was born on October 2, 1929 in the Chigwell District east of Lacombe and passed away peacefully in the Ponoka Continuing Care Centre on March 15, 2021 at the age of 91.
She was united in marriage to Walter Gillard on August 24, 1947 and they had three children, Diana, Timothy and Kenneth.
Over the years Amy was involved with the Lacombe Light Horse Association and also served as Secretary for the Parkland Harness Club for many years. During the 1960s and 70s she worked for Good’s Flower Shop and greatly enjoyed working with flowers….making many a bridal bouquet and corsages. Her hobbies also included knitting, crocheting and needlepoint, and some of her work is displayed on the walls of the Lacombe Lodge and in the homes of family and friends.
Amy had a “wry” sense of humor, which her caregivers said “made their day.”
Left to mourn her loss are her sons, Timothy (Cheryl) and Ken (Anita), son-in-law Ray Kozak, her nine grandchildren – Sheri (Yvon), Elden, Cindy (Barry), Dean (Dawn), Angela (Kelly), Franklin (Cori-Lynn), Willard, Troy (Kaelyn) and Travis (Mallory) – 17 great-grandchildren – Jami, Sabrina, Celina, Kaila, Mackenzie, Corbin, Carter, Maria, Ashley, Hanna, Calder, Cody, Cassidy, Caleigh, Rylee, Evyn and Layna – and one great-great-grandchild Charlotte.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Walter, daughter Diane, brother Jack Seaville, brother Charlie Jones and sister Barbara Goddard.
A family graveside service will be held in Lacombe at the Fairview Cemetery. If friends desire donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Society.
