Alice Groeneveld
June 6, 1937 to October 23, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alice Groeneveld (nee Tenhove) at the age of 88.
Alice passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, after a brief stay at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.
Alice was born in Zwolle, Netherlands on June 6, 1937. She was the fourth of eleven children born to Albert and Klazina Tenhove. In 1953, she and her entire family emigrated to Canada hoping to build a better life following the devastation of their home country during WWII.
On September 8, 1959, Alice married the love of her life, Floyd Groeneveld, and together they raised 5 children. Their life together was full of challenges, but their faith and their love of family always carried them through.
Alice lost Floyd to cancer in 2017. Her strength and resilience in the wake of that devastating loss was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Her life work is her children, and she was so tremendously proud of them; Lisa (Jim) Roth, Al (Herma) Groeneveld, Joe (Cheryl) Groeneveld, Carol (Brent) McAllister and Leanne (Matt) Groeneveld. Alice was also a very proud Oma and was blessed with 10 grandchildren; Chris (Crystal) Roth, Shaun (Roseanna) Roth, Kelsie (Adam) Harrington, Joel Groeneveld, Matthew (Stephanie) Groeneveld, Emily (Nate) Himbeault, Danielle (Caine) Hussey, Kaitlyn Groeneveld, Aaron (Gabe) Groeneveld, Rachel (Matt) Dirk. She is predeceased by her sisters Jean, Fenny, and Joanne, her brothers Evert and Dick, and very recently her brother Jim passed away as well. She leaves behind numerous friends, nieces and nephews, her 2 sisters (Jenny and Ena) and 2 sisters-in-law (Coby and Grace) as well as her brother John and 2 brothers-in-law (Barry and Rick) as well as 12 great grandchildren; Zander, Seth, Levi, Sadie, Catcher, Mina, Micah, Faye, Joey, Etta, Jeremiah and Rebekah!
