Abigail Maurier was born on September 10th, 1998 in Red Deer, AB, where she resided for her 24 years of life and in the same city where her family lived. Abigail had a heart of gold. Everyone who crossed her path knew what a beautiful soul she was, on the inside and out. She loved her family, friends, her Girl Gang was extra special to her heart, her long term boyfriend of 8 years Gus, her rabbits Biggie and Peaches, her dog Kyah, and the special connections she made with people along her path. Her kindness followed her wherever she went and she was always so thoughtful of others and wanted to help when ever she could.
She was adventurous and always up for trying new things and creating lasting memories, she lived life to the fullest. Throughout her years she took on guitar lessons, dancing, gymnastics, a cake baking class, she became a lifeguard and worked at the Collicutt Centre, she played competitive soccer with the Renegades, found a love in playing volleyball, and tested her accuracy at playing golf. She graduated from Hunting Hills high school in 2016, took a few gap years and enrolled in the Cardiology Technologist program with Stenberg College in 2020. In 2021 she was nominated as student of the year and graduated in 2021. She did her preceptorship at the Red Deer Regional hospital which turned into a casual position and later on a full time position in the Cardiology unit at the hospital. She loved being a cardio tech and she was so kind and compassionate to her patients, and she was loved by her coworkers who were honoured to work along side of her.
Abigail was a very rare soul. She was wise beyond her years, intuitive, humble, an empath, caring, funny, thoughtful, loving, creative, adventurous…. Just to list a few. She loved animals, soft clothes, fuzzy socks, bubble baths with candles, beaches, water, the sun, specialty coffees, yummy foods, music, art, mini white lights, Christmas and Halloween were her favourite seasons, but she loved them all. Any celebration that brought friends and family together, she loved and she was always there no matter what. That girls green eyes could look at you and comfort you in an instant and her big beautiful smile could light up an entire room. Her energy was contagious, her heart was felt, her laughter was heard amongst the crowd and her wittiness was appreciated in a world that can seem so serious.
On March 19th, 2023 Abigail became ill and she was diagnosed with a very rare aggressive cancer called NUT carcinoma. She passed away peacefully on May 2nd in the arms of her mom and surrounded by those who loved her dearly. She was so brave and courageous as she battled cancer, she did it like the true warrior woman she was and we are proud of her and her heart, her strength, and her love.
Abigail touched the lives of so many people because of her light and infectious love. She left footprints on many hearts and there are many people mourning the loss of someone they loved dearly.
