Mackenzie Kentia Keith Gouchey passed away at Red Deer, Alberta on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at the age of 9 years. Mackenzie was born December 16, 2014 at the Stollery Children’s Hospital, weighing in at five pounds four ounces, and being the only baby delivered at the Stollery since 1993. So special right out the gate! We knew Mackenzie was going to make a significant difference in all our lives. Despite her outward appearance, she had the amazing ability to laugh at jokes, and make others bust a gut when they heard her adorable laugh. She had an undoubtable love for Rock ‘n’ Roll music, fitting right in with the rest of her family. Her comedic timing was always on point and unmatched. She enjoyed playing with your hair and showing love the best she could through laughter, sounds, and physical touch. She loved going to school and loved and appreciated all of the support that she received from her friends and teachers. Mackenzie’s support workers, Mrs. Landers and Mrs. A, and the many before them, allowed her to feel like any other child. She thoroughly enjoyed rocking out with her brother, Kyle, beating up on her uncle, Jimmy, talking loudly over mommy, and running her fingers through her auntie Jeannie’s hair. She loved her family who was there for her 24/7. She may have not said much in her little life, but she said enough to let each of her family and friends know that she loved them very dearly. Mackenzie will be forever lovingly remembered by her parents, Norma and Harry, and her siblings, Brennden, Kyle, Courtney, and Kara. She will also be sadly missed by the rest of her loving family, uncle Jimmy, auntie Jeannie, auntie Raven, cousin Layne and countless others that cared for, and admired Mackenzie throughout her life. Mackenzie has now joined her Kookums, Edna and Linda, her Mooshum, Harry, her sister, Surraya, her uncles, Winston and Dwayne, her auntie, Alvina, and her cousins, Shanaya and Curtis Pie, and Cody. A Viewing was held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67A Street (Taylor Drive) on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m., respectfully Officiated by David Lilly.
