Joshua ‘Josh’ Allen Burns passed away tragically on Monday, July 4, 2022 at the age of 19 years. Josh was born on February 7, 2003 in North Vancouver, British Columbia, and resided in Abbotsford, British Columbia with his parents, Marty Desjarlais and Rebekah Burns. Josh was “their pride and joy”. In 2013, Marty and Josh made their journey back to Alberta, making Innisfail home. Josh enjoyed school most days and was known to lend a hand to the teachers and kitchen staff. His dreams were large. Josh had a love for airplanes, ships, and Lego; this was apparent at a very young age. He joined the Air Cadets and worked up the ranks to Flight Sergeant in the 7th Penhold Squadron. Unfortunately, Covid altered his continuation with his dedication in Air Cadets. Josh completed High School in 2021, while working with his uncle, Kelly at the autobody shop, to changing tires. His plans were to finish his Welding course at the Olds College. He was finding his path, which was ultimately in the Reserves. Josh was always helping neighbors and friends when needed; and will always be remembered for standing up for what he believed in. He was a loved and respected young man.
“Our Soldier of Heaven”!
Josh will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Marty Desjarlais of Innisfail, Alberta and Rebekah Burns of Abbotsford, British Columbia, his grandparents, Heather Desjarlais of Innisfail, Alberta and Glen (Gloria) Desjarlais of Drumheller, Alberta, Dan Burns of North Bay, Ontario and Roberta Steel of Port Loring, Ontario, his uncle, Kelly (Anne) Desjarlais of Innisfail, Alberta and their family, Cheyenne, Valissa, Frankie, Jesse, Keeana and Justice, his aunt, Kim Desjarlais of St. Albert and her children, Makayla and Taylor, his uncle, Mark (Candace) Desjarlais of Innisfail, Alberta and their family, Jozlyn, Jazmyn, Austin, Nicholas, Bradyn and Journee, his aunt, Jennifer of St. Albert, Alberta and her children, Matthew and Nathan; as well as numerous extended family and friends.
