JOHNSTON, Daniel
June 7, 1993 – April 22, 2025
With heavy hearts and profound sadness, the family announces the passing of Mr. Daniel ‘Danny’ Norman Johnston of Red Deer, Alberta, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at the age of 31 years. Danny was born to Lisa and Darren Johnston on June 7, 1993, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. Overjoyed and filled with excitement, new parents, Darren and Lisa brought Danny home to Blackfalds, where they spent three years chasing around their rambunctious little boy. In 1996, their next chapter unfolded as they moved to Red Deer. Shortly after they welcomed Danny’s little sister, Olivia. Danny was apprehensive of the whining little creature coming into his space but soon became the big brother he was always meant to be. In Danny’s younger years, he spent a lot of time with his cousins, aunts and uncles. He even went to England at the age of four with his grandma, Jesse, bringing home an English accent which slowly faded. Danny started school at Aspen Heights Elementary School, continuing on to both Glendale Middle School and Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School, where he made meaningful connections and unbreakable bonds. After High School, Danny took on many ventures, one of which was working in the Oilfield. He quickly realized he hated being away from home. Shortly after, he found himself working alongside his father at Quinn’s Oilfield Supply, where he remained for about five years. Making a career change, Danny tested the waters of plumbing. This venture didn’t feel like the right space for him, and he quickly changed paths. Close to home and among friends, Danny found a home with his work at Red Deer Lock and Safe, combining his passion for computers and all things tech related. Danny was able to create and innovate in his field. Danny’s spare time was spent camping, fishing and hiking with his closest friends. He had a great love for the outdoors and would never say no to a drink or six but was always in bed by 10:00 p.m. He loved to create things, be it Gundam’s, 3D printed gifts and many other things that would wow and confuse most. Danny will be forever missed and loved by his mother, Lisa, his father, Darren and his sister, Olivia, his uncle, Melvin Johnston, his aunties, Diane Pringle, Elaine Johnston and his uncle, Ivan Bulic, his auntie, Joyce and uncle, Brian Koteles, his cousins, Taneen and Corey Ryan, Kaysia and Keegan Walton, Jillian and Michael Johnston, Aidan and Roberta Pringle and Justine Halliday. Danny was predeceased by his grandma and grandpa Johnston, papa and grandma Walton, and his cousins, Shaun and Mitch. A Celebration of Danny’s Life was held at the Red Deer Resort and Casino, Monaco/Venetian Room, Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com
