PATTERSON, Bradley
October 25, 1985 — April 1, 2026
It is with heartbreaking sadness that the family and friends of Bradley George Patterson announce his passing on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at the age of 40 years.
Some people leave behind silence when they go.
Bradley left behind laughter.
The loud kind. The contagious kind. The kind that started deep in his chest, spread across his giant smile, and rolled through entire rooms until everyone around him was laughing too. Brad was born on October 25, 1985, and was raised with prairie wind, farm dirt, hard work, and a natural instinct to build things with his hands. He could fix almost anything — engines, equipment, vehicles, broken projects, and sometimes even impossible situations. If Bradley stared at something long enough, chances were it would somehow run again. Raised in Delia, Drumheller, and Red Deer, Bradley carried a little piece of each place within him. He was a true Alberta farm boy at heart — resourceful, hardworking, loyal, and capable of “jimmy-rigging” absolutely anything back into functioning order, usually while laughing and insisting he “had it handled.” Although Bradley had no brothers or sisters, he never truly walked through life alone. He created family everywhere he went. Friends became brothers, coworkers became lifelong companions, and strangers quickly became people gathered around laughing with him like they had known him forever. For much of his life, Bradley worked with Bildex in Red Deer, where he became known not only for his strong work ethic, but for his loyalty, generosity, and ability to make even the hardest days better simply by showing up. The Bildex crew became part of his extended family and remained some of the people he loved most in this world. Brad’s humour was never cruel. His jokes came with warmth, a mischievous grin, and the kind of laugh that made everyone else laugh harder. He had a rare gift for turning ordinary moments into unforgettable memories. One favourite family story was when his son, Dominik, came over and Bradley proudly offered him “fresh baked cookies.” Dominik excitedly said yes. Brad slowly opened the oven with complete confidence, like a professional baker unveiling perfection… only to reveal cold store-bought cookies inside.
He could always make Dominik smile and laugh, which brought him so much joy.
That joy was who he truly was.
Beneath his strength and humour was a deeply tender soul who wanted what most people want — love, peace, family, belonging, and a good life for the people he cared about. Bradley took pride in his strength and loved joking about it. He would laugh about being able to “bury a shed with nothing but a shovel,” and he loved his stiletto hammer almost as much as he loved showing off his “guns.” Steve remained a quiet inspiration to him, and Bradley always wanted to be strong, fit, and capable. More than anything in this life, Bradley loved his son, Dominik Ziah Patterson, deeply and endlessly. He wore Dominik’s name tattooed proudly across his neck. He lovingly called him “Monster,” often followed by one of his famous Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch, or other hilarious movie and character impressions that could make an entire room break into laughter. His loved ones will forever hear echoes of “BABORSHKY BOR!” in their hearts. Bradley also deeply loved his Grand Prix GTP, one of his proudest accomplishments and his first financed vehicle. To most people, it was simply a car. To Bradley, it represented independence, freedom, hard work, and possibility. Life became harder for Bradley in later years, and internal struggles slowly created distance between him and some of the people who loved him. But those who truly knew Bradley never forgot who he was beneath those struggles.
They remembered the hardworking farm boy.
The loyal friend.
The man who would help without hesitation.
The giant laugh.
The kindness.
The sweetness.
The way he loved his son with his whole heart.
The way he made people feel welcome simply by being himself.
Some of his closest friends lovingly called him “Darb,” because every now and then Bradley arrived a little bit “ass backwards” to life — but somehow still bringing goodness and laughter wherever he went. Bradley was predeceased by Jim MacDonald, who raised and loved him through his teenage years; by his beloved grandparents, Floyd and Shirley Avramenko, who he lived with on a farm in Hanna growing up as a child; whom he missed deeply throughout his life; by his loyal dog, Bubba; former fallen Bildex boys; and his brother-in-law; Ziah Alexander Roszell. He leaves behind his cherished son, Dominik Ziah Patterson; Opal Roszell; Dennis Roszell and Jane Roszell; Darcene Tzachev; Lazar Roszell; Peter Roszell; his mother, Shirley Helen Kathleen Avramenko; his uncles, Gordon Avramenko (Sue) and Daren Avramenko (Linda); many cousins; his Buildex brothers Jim, Kirk, Steve, Kenneth (Jamie), Jonny, and Jesse and the entire Buildex crew; the Patterson family who welcomed him as one of their own; countless lifelong friends across Alberta; and all the people whose lives became brighter because Bradley was part of them.
Bradley was taken far too soon.
But love like his does not disappear.
It remains in campfire stories, garage laughter, old vehicles, helping hands, Cookie Monster impressions shouted across rooms, and every memory shared by the people lucky enough to know him. The world is quieter without Bradley in it. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com
