It is with great sadness that we announce that Ms. Dallas August Smith of Lacombe, Alberta passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, after a very short but courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the age of 42 years. Dallas was born on August 17, 1982, in Red Deer, Alberta, to Lyle and Beverley (nee Pahl) Smith. Dallas’s love for Ringette started at the age of five, when she was a part of the Ernie’s Teddies, where she made some lifelong friends. Whether playing or coaching ringette, she loved being on the ice and being a part of the game. At the age of eight, Dallas’s love for horses began with Lacombe 4H and eventually went on to showing Arabians in the AHA Region 17. Dallas graduated from the Lacombe Composite High School and continued to work for various companies in the administrative role in Central Alberta. In 2013, Dallas welcomed her beautiful baby girl, Grace, into her life. Dallas had many roles with every person she met but most important of all, she was a great and devoted mom to Grace. Dallas passed on her love of ringette, horses and animals to Grace, and they always enjoyed their time spent together and were two peas in a pod. Dallas had the best sense of humour and a laugh that was so genuine and unrestrained. She loved without judgement and loved unconditionally. She was instantly a friend and confidant to many as she was so easy to love. Dallas will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Grace; her parents, Lyle and Bev Smith; her sister, Jodi Smith (Andrew); her nieces and nephews, Aspen, Jessi, Quin and Jase; Grace’s dad and good friend, Mike Scherrens. her step daughter, Lisa Scherrens (Brad) and her special pride and joy, her new grandson, Bhodi. Dallas will also be sadly missed by her grandfather, Bob Pahl (Sharyn), numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Dallas was predeceased by both of her grandmothers and her grandpa Smith. A Celebration of Dallas’s Life will be held at the Lacombe Memorial Centre, 5214 – 50 Avenue, Lacombe, Alberta on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Dallas’s honor may be made directly to a trust fund set up for Grace by sending an e-transfer to InTrustForGraceS@gmail.com password: Grace or to Saving Grace Animal Society at www.savinggracecanada.com.
