Maren Jane Cassidy of Red Deer, Alberta passed away peacefully in Red Deer on the morning of Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at the age of 41 years. Maren was born on August 3, 1981 in Whitecourt, Alberta, and was raised in Red Deer, Alberta. She lived in Saudi Arabia for three years and in North Carolina for one year. She graduated from Hunting Hills High School in 2001. Maren won a Province wide School Art competition. She was a member of a rock and roll band in Saudi Arabia and was a regular singer at the East 40th Pub’s open mic. Maren travelled with her family to Europe, the United Kingdom, the United States, Thailand and the Middle East, but her favorite place to visit was Disneyland. Maren will be remembered for her kindness, sense of humor, generosity, bravery, her love of music and her strength of character. She enjoyed singing, dancing, spending time with her friends and family, being at home, shopping and collecting dolls. She was fun-loving and liked it when those around her were also having fun. Maren will be lovingly remembered by her parents, Mark and Wanda Cassidy, her brother, James Cassidy, her aunt, Jane (Roman Harrison) Cassidy, her aunt, Anita (Malcolm) Cochrane, her aunt, Margaret (Stanley) Beddoes, her uncle, David (Rosanne) Andresen, and her cousins, as well as her roommate, Jessica Ballman. Maren will also be missed by the many people who knew her. Maren was predeceased by her grandmother, Sheila Cassidy, her grandfather, Hugh (Nina) Cassidy, her grandparents, Peter and Louise Andresen, her cousin, Joslyn Cassidy, her uncle, Earnest Andresen and her aunt, Hilda Andresen. A Celebration of Maren’s Life will be held at the Mackenzie Ponds picnic shelter, Red Deer, Alberta on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. In keeping with her love of children, if desired, Memorial Donations in Maren’s honor may be made directly to Aspire Special Needs Resource Centre, Red Deer at www.aspirespecialneeds.ca or to Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program/War Amps at www.waramps.ca.
