Gavin Owen Forbes of Red Deer, Alberta passed away peacefully, on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at the age of 48 years. Gavin was born on November 17, 1976 in Red Deer, Alberta. Gavin was raised in Red Deer where he pursued a career in Heavy Duty Mechanics with Schlumberger. His career led to management and travel in Alberta and overseas. He left a lasting impression on those who worked alongside him. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Olivia and Owen. Gavin’s bond with them was the most meaningful part of his life. He also shared a lasting friendship with his ex-wife, Raye Forbes. Gavin held close ties with many members of his extended family. He is remembered fondly by his uncle and father figure, Barry Bateman; his step father, Jeff Lunder; his aunties, Carol Vig,and Diana Michelson; his uncles, David Donald, Peter Metcalf, and Red Michelson; his cousins, Jennifer Regnier, Tammy Elson, Jody Schwarz, Darrell Vig, and Amanda Coulter. These relationships were important to Gavin and formed the foundation of his support network throughout his life. Gavin’s passing leaves a space in the hearts of those that knew him, family members, friends, co-workers, and all who shared in the journey of his life. A Celebration of Gavin’s Life will be held at Uncle Barry’s Acreage, Red Deer County, Alberta on Sunday, September 14, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
