It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Michael Glenn Persson at the young age of 52 years old.

Left to mourn Michael is his wife of 28 years, Cheryl, and his daughter, Sarah. He is also survived by his brother Robert (Barb) and his brother Kyle (Erin). In addition to many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Michael was predeceased by his son’s Ryan (2000) and Matthew (2001); mother, Cheryle (2020) and his father, Bob (2022).

Mike will always be remembered for his love of being outdoors, whether he was camping with Cheryl and Sarah, or getting firewood with his brother. Mike had a laugh which was contagious and very unique. If Mike was around, everyone heard his booming voice.

Mike was also an endless fountain of knowledge gained by a varied and full life. Some of the family referred to him as a Mike-a-pedia. Mike was a hard worker and took pride in being an exceptional tradesman. He really enjoyed the time he was able to volunteer on both the Radium and Sundre fire departments.

Mike loved to teach, if it was an apprentice working with him or a friend asking for advice, he had a calmness and patience with anyone who wanted to learn. One of Mike’s favorite activities was hunting with Sarah, teaching her how to be a good and respectful hunter.

The hole left by Big Mike will never be filled. He big heart was just too full of love to continue beating, but his love will be felt forever.

Instead of a service, Mike always said he wanted a party to send him off. This summer we will be having a graveside service and a “Celebrate Mike” get together.
