It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Scott Emett Burke, who left this world far too soon on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in Sundre, at the age of 55 years, after a courageous battle with malignant melanoma. Through life’s challenges, he carried himself with resilience, humour, and a positive attitude. He chose to live by Stephen King’s words “Get busy living or get busy dying.” Scott got busy living. Scott loved connecting with people, sharing stories, and making memories. Scott had an unwavering work ethic and loved adventures including achieving his dream of driving the Alcan to Alaska. Scott will be remembered for his strength, kind and generous heart, and unwavering love for his family. He valued the simple but meaningful moments in life. Scott most loved spending time with his family and being amongst his cattle. His presence touched the lives of many, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Scott didn’t say goodbye, he said “see you on the other side”. Scott will be dearly missed and forever remembered by his wife and high school sweetheart Colleen (Murphy), son Rielly Emmett, daughter Jennifer Dawn, and siblings Roberta, Diane (Stephen), Terry, and Susan (Dave). He was predeceased by parents Robert and Shirley Burke and siblings Anne-Marie Burke, and Brian, Bobby, and Bruce LeBlanc. Scott is lovingly remembered by in-laws Wayne and Dawn Murphy, sisters in-law Candace and Patricia (Steve), many nieces and nephews, close friends Terry Hayes and Joe Albert, and dogs Hennessy and Merle and cats Maverick, Ben, Tilly, Roo, and DaisyBoy.
