Mrs. Shirley Van Someren of Red Deer, Alberta passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at the age of 55 years. Shirley was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario on May 1, 1969, to George Albert Trumble and Doreen Erb. She is survived by her husband of five years, Ken, her daughter, Kailey (John), her son, Josh, her stepson, Nathan (Taryn) and her pride and joy, her grandchildren, Hayden, Alexzandria, Genevieve, Dom and Ronin. She will also be sadly missed by her loving father, George Albert, her brother, Case (Jessica), her nieces, Kathryn (Brent), Kimberlee and Theresa, and her great nephew, Ezra and her great niece, Lilah. Shirley also leaves to mourn Ken’s mom, Clarie, her brothers-in -law, Ron (Shelley), Jerry and Bob and her longtime friend, Cheryll, her many aunts, uncles and friends in Alberta and Ontario. Shirley was predeceased by her mom, Doreen, her sister, Christine and her brother, Lloyd. Shirley has now gone on to the ultimate Glory, ascending to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Shirley has been active with Victory Church of Red Deer for many years, volunteering with the clothing zone until it recently closed. One of Shirley’s favorite memories was being baptized in the Red Deer River. Family was very important to Shirley, spending time with her kids and grandkids was the highlight of her time on earth. Shirley enjoyed going to Canada Day Celebrations with family and friends. Shirley’s eyesight limited her opportunities for employment, or to drive, but she made the most of each day. Shirley enjoyed scrolling on Facebook, and the buy and sell groups were one of her favorite places to shop. Shirley will be missed by all that had the opportunity to know her. A Celebration of Shirley’s Life was held at the Victory Church of Red Deer, 98 Oberlin Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, November 29, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Dave Thordarson officiating. A luncheon followed the Celebration of Life at the church. If desired, Memorial Donations in Shirley’s honor may be made directly to the Victory Church of Red Deer Missions or to a Charity of the Donor’s choice. In the event of inclement weather, the family requests that you do not travel on the highways, please stay home and be safe. The service will be streamed live at www.vcrd.ca/media/live.
