Kim Joanne Haugen passed away peacefully at the Innisfail Health Care Centre on December 31, 2024 at the age of 55 years. Kim was born on May 10, 1969, in Innisfail, Alberta, and grew up west of Innisfail on a farm as well as living with her Guardians Bill and Cheryl Waldo of Red Deer, Alberta.
Kim worked at the Innisfail Elementary School and Middle School as an Educational Assistant. After, Kim started working at the Central Alberta Outreach Centre, where remained passionately advocating and supporting domestic violence clients. In 2017 she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Central Alberta Domestic Relationship Violence Initiative Committee. This award recognizes a frontline employee who had made a significant difference for a minimum of ten years to individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. She then received an award of Recognition from the Red Deer RCMP highlighting their acknowledgement for her efforts with Central Alberta Women’s Outreach Society in 2019.

Kim is lovingly remembered by Len Carter, her mother, Barb Scott, her father Lyle McKain, her daughters: Brittney (Curtis) Wells of Sylvan Lake, Alberta and Jessica (Chase) Starling of Drayton Valley, Alberta, her stepsons: Darcy (Crystal) Carter of Innisfail, Alberta and Riley (Julieanna) Carter of Edmonton, Alberta, as well as her grandchildren: Sawyer and Emmett Wells, Scottlyn, Spencer and Swayze Starling, Brody, Deegan and Aubree Carter, her brothers: Wade McKain of Millet, Alberta, her sisters: Angela Miller of Innisfail, Alberta, Kristen Scott of Innisfail, Alberta, Christina McKain Pyrch of Calmar, Alberta. Kim was predeceased by her husband Gord Morison.
As per Kim’s wishes, no service will be held.
