STANTON, Shannon
1967 – 2025
Mrs. Shannon Heather Stanton (née Ozouf) passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the age of 58 years, after a courageous, yearlong fight with cancer. Shannon was born on January 13, 1967, in Selkirk, Manitoba. She devoted over 20 years of her life to caring for others as a health care aide, with compassion and dedication that touched many lives at the Heart Institute and hospitals in Ponoka, Innisfail, and Red Deer. Later, Shannon embraced life on the road as a long-haul truck driver, traveling across North America with her beloved husband, Ed, and their loyal dog, Maia. The three of them were joined at the hip, sharing countless miles and memories in their truck (“Lucy”). Shannon loved vintage cars, shopping, and spending time with her family. Her big smile, generous heart, thoughtful spirit, sense of humour, and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Of all the blessings in her life, none brought her more joy than her granddaughter, Ella — the brightest light in her world.
Shannon is lovingly remembered by her husband, Edward Stanton; her son, Sheldon (Jan) Cherry; her daughters, Heather (John) Crowley, and Lindsay (Brendon) Wick; her granddaughter, Ella Crowley; her brother, Lyle Ozouf Jr. (Lynda); and her parents, Sharon and Lyle Ozouf.
Shannon’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses of the Red Deer Regional Hospital Cancer Centre and Unit 32. The support and kindness you provided meant more than words can express.
