Mr. James ‘Troy’ Bakke, beloved husband of Mrs. Melody Bakke of Red Deer, Alberta passed away at the Lacome Hospital and Care Centre, Lacombe, Alberta on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at the age of 57 years. Troy was born to Ernest Bakke and Jean Grassick in Red Deer, Alberta on October 23, 1967. He was raised by his loving grandparents, Bunny and Dan McCall. Troy was reunited with his fur pal, Bailey, when his valiant three-year battle with melanoma cancer was over. Troy married his soulmate and best friend, Melody on August 11, 2018. Troy loved his friends, some dating back to Grade 3. He was a light-hearted man with a smile that would melt your heart. He was a hard worker, working most of his career as a well tester in the Alberta Oilfield. Troy loved working in the outdoors with the men who became his friends. He loved the sea and was an avid scuba diver and swimmer, swimming with the Red Deer Catalina Swim Club. He was a world traveler, seeing many countries all over the world. Troy also loved photography and underwater videography. He was a happy, uncomplicated man – very humble and generous. Those lucky enough to love Troy and to know him were truly blessed. The legacy he leaves is enormous. Troy will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Melody Bakke of Red Deer; Stepdaughter, Charity McInnes, and son-in-law, James, of Calgary, Alberta; his two grandchildren, Cadence and Caleb. He will also be sadly missed by his aunt, Shirley Lawrence, and his cousins. Troy was predeceased by his father, Ernest Bakke, his mother, Jean Grassick, and his grandparents, Bunny and Dan McCall. A Public Viewing will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Troy’s honor may be made directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation at www.albertacancer.ca.
