Ghyslaine Burns, 56, of Sundre, Alberta, went to be with Jesus on February 12, 2024. She is now released from her years of health struggles and can finally enjoy her well-deserved rest in heaven.
She was born on August 21, 1967, in London, Ontario to Normand Legault and Nicole Ladouceur, who raised her in Perth, Ontario along with her brother Daniel of Nagoya, Japan. She completed her schooling, K-13, in Perth and completed an undergraduate degree in Cultural Studies at the University of Trent.
In 1994, Ghyslaine married Robert Burns, with whom she embarked on a new life out west in Alberta and with whom she eventually adopted their daughter Katrina (Kiti) Burns, born June 12, 2004. Early on, the couple lived in Calgary, bought, and moved into their first home in Airdrie, where Kiti joined them. Later the family moved to Didsbury where they raised Kiti and then as empty nesters, started a new adventure closer to the mountains, near Sundre.
Ghyslaine will be remembered for her passion to serve others with her characteristic big-heartedness. She frequently demonstrated the old axiom “it is better to give than to receive” and took great pleasure in the giving of cadeaux (gifts). She wasn’t one for hobbies, unless one would classify as a hobby, her determination to stay in touch with Kiti and be keenly involved in her life.
Ghyslaine is survived by husband Robert Burns and daughter Kiti Burns, and brother Daniel Legault (Kumi). She was predeceased by her father Normand Legault, born in Rouyn Noranda and her mother Nicole Ladouceur, born in Montreal.
There will not be a funeral as per Ghyslaine’s wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to Sundre Hospital where Ghyslaine had received such good service these last couple of years.
