It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Shelly Lee Boomhower at her home in Red Deer, Alberta on Monday, October 25, 2021 at the age of 57 years. Shelly was born in Vancouver, British Columbia and was raised there until she was twelve years old. Shelly then moved with her mother Twila to Saskatchewan, where she lived until she was twenty-three. Shelly met her husband Herb in Saskatchewan and they moved together to Sylvan Lake, Alberta. In 1989, Shelly and Herb were married in Edmonton, Alberta. Soon after their marriage, Shelly and Herb decided to live in Red Deer, Alberta to have a family. On September 5, 1989, Shelly gave birth to her son Herbert Lindsay Boomhower in Red Deer, Alberta. Shelly became a dedicated wife and mother. As the years went on her mother Twila moved to Red Deer to be closer to the family. After many years, Twila’s health was not very good so Shelly became a care giver for her mother until she passed in 2004. Shelly Loved nature and her best vacation would be camping and fishing with mountain scenery. Shelly was a lifeguard in her teens so swimming and fishing was definitely her favorite activity. Throughout Shelly’s life her health gave her many issues. She fought and did the best she could until that day when God called her home to be pain free. Shelly is lovingly remembered by her husband, Herbert Boomhower, her son, Herbert Boomhower of Red Deer, Alberta, her step-son, Jeffrey Boomhower of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, her brothers, James and Clifford Giesbrecht of Red Deer, Alberta, and her sister, Trina Rowen of Red Deer, Alberta. Shelly was predeceased by her father, James Giesbrecht, her mother, Twila Huget, her grandmother, Kathleen Schiltroth, her brother, Anthony Giesbrecht, her uncle, Grant Schiltroth, and her uncle, Gary Schiltroth. If desired, a memorial donation in Shelly’s honor may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation at www.heartandstroke.ca or to the Canadian Cancer Society at www.cancer.ca.
