COLYE, Margaret Anne
1964 – 2026
Ms. Margaret Anne Coyle passed away at the Red Deer Hospice on Sunday, January 18, 2026. She was 61 years old. Margaret was born in Glasgow, Scotland, the eldest child of William and Patricia Coyle. She attended Lady of the Annunciation Primary School with her younger brothers before going on to Holyrood Secondary School. The family emigrated to Canada in April 1977, staying in Penhold with a family friend, where Margaret attended and graduated from Innisfail High School in 1981. The family moved to Delburne, Alberta in September 1981. Eventually, brothers Kevin and Martin left home to pursue their own interests. Margaret was asked by her parents’ friend to do housekeeping, which led to several jobs over the years, sometimes involving house-sitting for “snowbirds.” She made several trips back to Scotland and England with her parents, the last in 2007 with her dad. After the death of her mother from cancer in 2000, Margaret became more active at St. Mary Catholic Church, joining the Union of Catholic Apostolate in 2001. It was with this community that Margaret was most at home, travelling to Rome on pilgrimage and attending an international congress in 2010. She was also involved with formation and other aspects of the Pallottine community. In 2014, her dad also joined the UAC. Margaret joined the CWL a few years later and has been one of the altar linen laundry ladies since 2004. Although happy in Delburne, following the death of her father in 2023, Margaret moved to Red Deer in August 2024, where she began a new phase of her life, adopting a cat and being able to participate more fully in her UAC, CWL, and other ministries at St. Mary’s without travelling to and from Delburne. After developing health issues, Margaret was diagnosed with cancer in November 2025. Margaret is survived by her brother, Kevin Coyle of Red Deer, Alberta; her many friends from her parish “family”; friends from Delburne; and her beloved cat, Joseph. She was predeceased by her mother, Patricia, in December 2000; her father, William, in June 2023; and her brother, Martin, in November 2023. A prayer service will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67A Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 6 McMillan Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with The Reverend Father Robert Lee officiating.
