Mr. Robert Allen ‘Bob’ Gummow of Red Deer County, Alberta passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at the age of 59 years. Bob was born on February 4, 1964 in Red Deer, to parents, Harvey Richard Gummow and Grace Gummow. As a child, Bob was often seen with his Grandpa Gummow, who lived on the same farmyard, riding dirt bikes and working with the cattle. Bob’s entire life was spent living on the farm he loved “The Rolling Ridge Farm”, in the community of Willowdale. He graduated from Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School in 1982. In 1994, he and Terri were married, along with Terri’s daughter, Sarah, who was so special to Bob from the very beginning. In 1998, their son, William was born, and he became the Love of Bob’s life. His early career began in Sales at Woody’s RV World, where his quick wit and people skills came naturally. Other Sales jobs included Vellner Leisure Products, Pentagon Farm Supplies, All Weather Windows, and Royal LePage, along with working at Abbey Builders and the City of Red Deer. Eventually, Bob went on to receive his Real Estate License, which led to his final career selling homes. He particularly enjoyed selling farms and land. Bob was also a beef cattle farmer and started his own tree farm, Bob-Will Trees, which kept him busy throughout the summers. He was a member of the Red Deer East 4-H Beef Club, where his passion for showing Simmental Steers and Bulls grew. Bob loved to curl, play golf, and participate in County softball. He spent many years being part of the Curling Club. He was a 2014 Canadian Cattlemen’s Curling Tournament Winner. Bob’s biggest achievement in life was raising his children. He went to all his son, Will’s 4-H meetings. Bob was overjoyed to teach his children, and to be part of their sports, such as hockey, Lacross, and soccer. Bob spent many summers with his stepdaughter, Sarah Kaye, teaching baseball and being part of her team. He loved to care for his children as well, making lunches for school, keeping all their cards, school reports, and everything his children made for him. Bob was a proud father. Bob has left us a legacy of love, and enduring commitment to family. We will treasure all our memories in our hearts forever. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his son, Will Gummow of Red Deer, Alberta, his stepdaughter, Sarah Gable of Victoria, British Columbia, his sister, Joyce Kirbie of Calgary, Alberta, as well as many extended family and friends. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Harvey and Grace Gummow, and a brother, Ronald Gummow. A Celebration of Bob’s Life was held at The Hideout, 411 Lantern Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
