It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loved one, Roger John Pike, also known as ‘FROG’. Roger passed away peacefully, after a brief but difficult battle with cancer, on Monday, April 24, 2023 at the age of 60 years. He was fortunate enough to spend his last days in his favorite place – at home – with his family. Roger was born and raised in Maidstone, Saskatchewan. Always “on the go,” and never one to “sit still,” Roger left school as soon as he was old enough, and went straight to work on the rigs. Never afraid of hard work or long hours, he became a “Lifer” in the Oil Patch. This job took him all over Alberta, where he trained and mentored a lot of “green hands,” always giving anyone a chance if they worked hard. He earned respect and many became close lifelong friends because of this. Eventually, Roger settled down and began a life with Linda. Soon after, they were blessed with the opportunity of raising three grandkids; Creed, Suri and Blaze. This opened a whole new world for Roger. With humor, love and commitment, he jumped in 100%. He was so proud of these kids and loved them so much. Roger was happiest relaxing on his deck in the sunshine, with Linda and the kids there. He loved his family, his dog, his job, Johnny Cash and an ice-cold beer. Roger will be lovingly remembered by his loving partner, Linda and her family, which Roger referred to as his own, his two sons, John (Kailagh) and Keifer, his daughter, Natasha, his grandkids, Creed, Suri, Javen, Blaze, Cadence, Araya and Wolfgang, his siblings, Lorne (Barb) Pike and Barb (Jerry) Lefebvre, and his nieces and nephews, Kelly, Lisa, Tyler, Sheila, and Lee, along with many great nieces and nephews. He will also be sadly missed by many lifelong friends and work buddies. Roger was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Marlene Pike and an older sister, Brenda Finley. Roger will be lovingly remembered as the carefree, generous, funny, hardworking, wild and crazy kind of guy that we all knew and loved. Goodbyes are not forever, or the end, but simply mean we will miss you ‘til we meet again, RIP ‘FROG’. A Celebration of Roger’s Life will be held at the Centre for Spiritual Living, 3, 6315 Horn Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
