It is with great sadness the Family of Kevin Conrad Rinas announce his sudden passing on February 22nd 2026 in Olds, Alberta at the age of 63.
Kevin was born on October 5th 1962 to Ronald and Ethel Rinas in Edmonton, Alberta. Kevin was the third youngest of eight children of Ronald and Ethel Rinas. After the passing of Kevin’s Mother in 1977 Kevin was later blessed with three additional siblings and his Stepmother Linda Rinas.
Kevin’s childhood years were filled with Love, Family and Hockey. He played on the Olds Elks hockey team for many years and eventually played Semi Pro with the Kimberley Dynamiters in the Western International Hockey League as an Enforcer.
In 1991 Kevin found his way to British Columbia where he worked at the Chateau Whistler. It was during this time in BC Kevin met his future wife Michelle during a visit in Burnaby, British Columbia.
Kevin and Michelle married on July 28th 1995 and resided in North Vancouver where they welcomed their only child, Christopher, on October 23rd, 1997. He enjoyed gardening, enjoying the great outdoors on family camping trips and spending time exploring the many beautiful and interesting places in and around Vancouver with his Son.
Kevin’s career revolved around construction, maintenance and beautifying every space he entered and worked. He received his Power Engineering Fourth Class in 2003 from the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Years later after suffering a workplace injury, Kevin was given the opportunity to continue his schooling in Nova Scotia where he received a diploma in Occupational Health & Safety. A couple of years later in 2017 Kevin also received a diploma in Strata Management from the University of British Columbia. Throughout his career, Kevin worked in historic properties such as Chateau Whistler and The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.
In 2018, Kevin returned to his home province of Alberta with Michelle, Christopher and his Mother In Law Winnie. Kevin continued in his field of Maintenance & Occupational Health and Safety working in Hotels, Nursing Homes and ending his career as Maintenance Supervisor of the Olds Hospital.
During his time back in Olds, Kevin became a part of the Local Men’s Shed organization, participated in the Olds Pool league and reignited his love of art by joining the Olds Art Club.
Kevin was predeceased by both his parents Ronald and Ethel Rinas, Brothers Brian and Wayne Rinas, Sister Angela, Nephew Robbie, Niece Julie and Mother in Law Winnie Ballantyne.
Left to honour his memory are his loving wife Michelle Rinas, Son Christopher Rinas, Son in Law Michael Ford, Stepmother Linda Rinas, siblings Joe (Darlene) Rinas, Terry Rinas, Robert (Gail) Rinas, Dale (Nadine) Rinas, Sheri (Trevor) Krall, Darwin (Roxanne) Kirton, Darcy (Deanne) Kirton, Sister in Laws Marilyn Rinas and Patricia Thomas and Brother In Law Craig Moore along with numerous, NUMEROUS, Nieces, Nephews and Great Nieces and Nephews

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 105, Olds. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and to honor Kevin’s life.
