OSLUND, Geoffrey ‘Geoff’ Gillis
1961 ~ 2026
Geoffrey ‘Geoff’ Gillis Oslund of Springbrook, Alberta, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the age of 64 years. Geoff was born in Red Deer, Alberta, on Saturday, December 16, 1961. Geoff, from his early years, had a “need for speed”. Of course, this got him into a few accidents but also led to his keen interest in performance engines. He found his niche working on engine heads, in particular, the flow of the fuel and the setting and installing of the valves. He essentially self taught and spent many hours experimenting and testing different methods and port configurations. Geoff pursued this interest as the owner and operator of G.O. Flow. After an extended absence, he returned to attending services at St. Leonard’s to practice his faith. Here he found a close community to interact with. He loved being involved in setting up for functions and tending to any of the regular chores where he was able. He attended any seminars and workshops if able. An avid interest of religious and Christian history developed in this environment. He always had a love for pets and, as a bachelor, always kept a dog for companionship, exercise, and the chance to spoil his “child”. He usually opted to get his buddies from an animal or rescue shelter. He fostered his last two dogs to help make a difference for those animals in need. His last, unfostered buddy was Four who came to him directly from a litter. While his gentle but insistent training style made all his buddies’ good dogs, he often said Four was the best and smartest. He missed Four to his final days. Geoff will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Brenda M.; his brothers, Stuart (Brenda L.) and Graham (Ruth); his nieces, nephew, cousins, friends, and his church community. Geoff is predeceased by parents, Margaret (nee Rhoades) and Gillis Oslund. A Memorial Service will be held in Geoff’s honour at St. Leonard’s on the Hill Anglican Church, 4241-44 Street, Red Deer, Alberta, on Saturday, January 31, at 1:00 P.M. with The Reverend Chris Roth. A Reception will follow the service in the lower level of the church. Memorial donations may be made in Geoff’s honour to St. Leonard’s on the Hill Anglican Church or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
