Warrant Officer Bailey, Derek Peter RCAF Retired

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Derek (Beetle) Peter Bailey on the evening of Thursday, June 9, 2022 at the age of 60 years. Derek was born in Birmingham, England. He emigrated to Canada with his family in 1976, settling in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Just prior to his eighteenth birthday Derek joined the Canadian Armed Forces, where over a twenty nine year career he sailed the world and played rugby wherever he could find a game. In 2010 he retired from the military with the rank of Warrant Officer with many commendations. Upon his retirement he worked for several years at the Kandahar Airforce base as a private contractor. Derek will be missed by his father David, brothers Gordon (Sonya), Richard (Shonna) and many nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews and of course his beloved dog and companion Sasebo. A Memorial Service for Derek will be held at a later date. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
