MOONEY, Nancy
1959 ~ 2026
Mrs. Nancy Helen Mooney (née Krogman) passed away at the Red Deer Hospice on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the age of 66 years. Nancy was born on February 17, 1959, and raised on the family farm near Red Deer, Alberta. Nancy graduated from Lindsay Thurber High School. She started working part-time at Woolco at the age of 16 where she met her future husband Kevin, who was 19. Nancy and Kevin were married on April 29, 1978. Nancy continued full-time at Woolco until she and Kevin moved to Edmonton so he could complete his Bachelor of Education Degree. While in Edmonton, she quickly rose through the ranks to Manager at the Reitman’s store in West Edmonton Mall. She was on track to move up further when she decided to resign and move back to Red Deer to start a family.
Nancy devoted her life to being a mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend. After raising her children, Chris and Laurel, she devoted her spare time to providing care for her aging family and friends. Nancy was a selfless individual that put everyone before herself. Nancy chose to return to the workforce in retail with Sears, moving on to Woodwards, and then The Bay. In time she started a career in the health care industry at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. She took training courses from SAIT and received her Medical Device Reprocessing Certificate. She worked in the CSR, OR, and finished her 20-year career in the Endoscopy Unit, making life-long friends along the way.
Nancy was a caring, loving and compassionate woman who made time for any human being, and we are pretty sure everyone who got to know her, liked her…a lot. She had a passion for travel, getting to experience many memorable trips within Canada, the USA, Mexico, and Europe. She belonged to several dress clubs and socialized with a wide network of friends and coworkers making her circle large and filled with so much love.
Nancy is lovingly remembered and survived by her spouse, Kevin Mooney; son, Christopher Mooney (Sinead Wyness), and grandkids Drake, Andrew and Finn; daughter, Laurel (David) Street, and grandkids Jakob, Elliot and Danielle; brothers, Stu (Corrine) Krogman, and Al (Caroline) Krogman; numerous nieces and nephews, and dear friends. She was pre-deceased by her sister, Karen Costen, who was married to Dennis Costen.
