MANTEY, Wesley
1959 – 2025
Mr. Wesley Raymond ‘Wes’ Mantey passed away in Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at the age of 65 years. Wes was born on December 13, 1959, in Edmonton, Alberta. He built a life defined by hard work, dedication to family, and an unwavering sense of humor.
Despite not completing High School, Wes pursued a career in Construction through a Trade School. He began working alongside his father at Krawford Construction Inc. in 1979 and remained there until 1996. Wes then joined the Good Samaritan Society of Edmonton before taking a leap of faith in 2001, to start his own company, Lakeside Builders, in the Edson/Shiningbank area. In 2009, he returned to Krawford Construction as a Site Superintendent for out-of-town projects, where he worked tirelessly until August of 2024.
Wes was a man of immense strength and kindness. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and took great pride in looking out for those he loved. A devoted family man, he was Jodi’s rock – her soulmate and best friend. His sense of humor brought joy to those around him, and his hardworking nature set an example for all who knew him.
He found joy in the outdoors and had a passion for quadding. He loved watching alien and comedy shows, had a deep appreciation for dogs and Dodges, and enjoyed unwinding with some RR Whisky on Friday nights.
Wes will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Jodi; his son, Trevor (Tracey); his daughter, Krystal (Jason); and his cherished grandchildren, Bruce, Kallie, and Lucas. He will also be sadly missed by his mother, Theresa; his brothers, Vern (Dawn) and Ron (Bonnie); his sister-in-law, Kimberlee Dawn (Wayne); and his nieces and nephews. Wes was predeceased by his father, Adolph and his mother-in-law, Doreen.
A Celebration of Wes’s Life will be held at the Peter Lougheed Community Centre, 5109 – 54 Street, Rimbey, Alberta on Friday, February 21, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. with his lifelong friend, Dwight Simon Officiating. In lieu of flowers, if desired, Memorial Donations in Wes’s honor may be made directly to your local Food Bank.
Wes’s legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
