It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Harald Traweger, beloved husband and soulmate of Bonnie (Ruhr) Traweger of Red Deer, Alberta. After a lengthy and very courageous battle with cancer, he passed away peacefully at the age of 62, with his family by his side. The relationship that we had was like no other; we shared an unbreakable bond. He will be missed more than any words could express but he will be forever in our hearts until we meet again. Harald lived life to the fullest! He had a passion for many things in life. He was athletic and loved sports, playing everything from soccer to broomball, football to wrestling, hockey to golf. Harald spent much of his leisure time riding quads, his Harley, snowmobile and was always looking forward to the next adventure. He could always be heard saying “I’m in!”. Recently he rekindled his love of rebuilding cars and last year was able to finish his ‘67 Chev Malibu. He loved to drive this car, squeal out every chance he could and make his grandchildren grin from ear to ear when they jumped in with him for a ride. Harald, Bonnie, Brandi and Ryan moved to Red Deer in 1994 and a year later they started their own company, Western Painting & Decorating (1999) Ltd. Harald pounded the pavement and built his painting business from the ground up, gaining the respect of many local contractors. Lovingly remembered by his wife Bonnie, daughter Brandi (Richard) and son Ryan. Opa to five amazing grandchildren: Seth, Auston, Noah, Madison and Blissannie. Survived and greatly missed by: his parents Adolf and Paula Traweger, brother Greg (Norma), sister Brigitta (Darrell), sister Caroline (Kenton), in-laws Ken and Clemie Ruhr, sister-in-law Karen (Dave), sister-in-law Colleen (Wayne) and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Harald will alsobe dearly missed by the many wonderful close friends he and Bonnie have made both in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Special thanks to the amazing staff at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. A special thank you to Dr. Stuart Hutchison, Dr. Wong, Dr. Don Morris and Dr. Donavon Stearn for all your countless efforts during Harald’s journey of the past 4 years. Your support, concern and caring ways will not be forgotten. A Funeral Mass was held at Sacred Heart Parish, 4816 55 St, Red Deer, Alberta, on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Luncheon to follow.
