GLASIER, Calvin Dean
1959 –2025
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Calvin (Cal) Dean Glasier, who left us on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the age of 66. Cal was born in Oxbow, Saskatchewan, on Tuesday, July 7, 1959, to Kenneth and Jenny Glasier, and grew up surrounded by family, open skies, and wide fields to explore. Cal’s childhood was full of adventure, mischief, and laughter. Cal and his brother, Don, spent many days outdoors, playing epic backyard battles with toy guns and handmade bows, hunting gophers behind the house, and collecting frogs from the slough. One particularly memorable day, the frogs escaped in the house—a story retold many times with great laughter. As a young man, Cal built his life in construction, where he became well known as a skilled roofer and a hard worker. When work slowed, he and Don framed houses together, sharing both a trade and a deep brotherly bond. Cal was always willing to lend a hand, and many family members and friends have homes touched by his work and generosity. Cal loved his sports, especially cheering on the Calgary Flames and Stampeders. He enjoyed a good game of cribbage, and many years later, spent many quiet evenings watching movies and television series. Cal’s life changed significantly when he was diagnosed with aggressive oral cancer. He faced his illness with determination and courage, adapting with resilience despite the physical challenges he endured. Though his voice was altered and so many everyday tasks became difficult, Cal continued to maintain his independence for as long as he could. Two years ago, he moved into Bethany Care in red Deer, Alberta, where he was supported with compassion, dignity, and understanding. Cal is now reunited with those who went before him—his parents, Kenneth and Jenny; his brother, Don; his friend, Andy; and many loved relatives and friends. He leaves behind many who will miss him deeply: his sisters, Brenda (Ervine) Rebman and Jean Moffitt (Lawson Allen); stepmother, Jean Glasier; sister-in-law, Linda Glasier; stepbrothers, Lance (Jackie) and Brent (Daphinie) Mohrbutter; half-brother, Greg (Norma) Glasier; his children, Angela, Mitchell, Carissa (Trevor, Nathan, Nicolas), and Russell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. A special and heartfelt thank you goes to Paul and Elaine, whose unwavering support and friendship meant so much to Cal throughout his journey. The family also wishes to express their deep gratitude to the Bethany Care team, who treated Cal with genuine kindness and care through his struggles and final days. In keeping with Cal’s wishes, there will be no formal service at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with close family and friends. Cal will be remembered for his quiet strength, his loyalty, his dry humor, and his deep love for those he held close. His story, his courage, and his spirit remain with us always. A private family gathering will take place at a later date in Sylvan Lake for the scattering of Cal’s ashes. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
