SVEINSON, Gregory Allan
1958 – 2025
It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Gregory Allan Sveinson, who left us peacefully in the early hours of August 4, 2025, at the age of 67, after a short battle with cancer.
Greg was born and raised in Red Deer, Alberta, to Esther and Dennis Sveinson. He was the proud middle child of nine siblings. Throughout his life, Greg was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, caring uncle, and friend to many. He will be deeply missed by his wife of nearly 44 years, Barb; his daughters Kristina, Katelyn (Eric), and Angela (Mark); his beloved grandson, Lucas; and his loyal dog, Odin. Greg also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will miss his warmth, humour, and generous heart. Greg took great pride in his work as a Class 1 driver for many years and, in recent years, found true joy in his role as a school bus driver with Prairie Bus Lines. His commitment to safety and the well-being of those he transported was evident to all who knew him.
He is predeceased by his parents, Esther and Dennis; his brothers, Dennis and Darcy; his sister, Maureen; his nephew, Sean; and his niece, Jamie. The family is planning a memorial service in Greg’s honour. If you wish to attend, please reach out so we may provide further details and ensure we can accommodate all who wish to pay their respects. We extend heartfelt thanks to the dedicated team on Unit 32P at Red Deer Regional Hospital, the doctors who provided him care, and his family physician, Dr. Uys, for their compassionate care.
