OOSTERHOFF, Evelyn
1958 – 2025
While our hearts are saddened at her passing, we rejoice that our Evelyn ‘Ev’ Alice Oosterhoff is now in the presence of our Lord and Savior. Ev peacefully realized the promises of her lifelong faith at the Tofield Health Centre, Tofield, Alberta, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at the age of 66 years. Ev was born on August 31, 1958 in Red Deer, Alberta, the third of six daughters born to Merle and Henny Oosterhoff. She proudly called Red Deer home for most of her life. She was always proud to share her birthdate and many birthday celebrations with her Auntie Grace. Ev was a dedicated employee who worked in Administration at Michener Center for just over thirty-four years. During those years, she formed many cherished friendships that endured after her retirement in 2014. She coached Special Olympics and was active in her church as a choir member, as a GEMS (Girls Everywhere Meeting the Saviour) counsellor, and helped host many baby showers. A gifted baker and cross stitch enthusiast, Ev enjoyed sharing her creations with those she loved. A dedicated Edmonton Oilers fan from the beginning, Ev rarely missed a game and treasured being part of a special group of four that used Messenger to exchange animated running commentary during games. She was a loyal and empathetic friend who actively maintained relationships with family from the Netherlands, High School friends in Ontario, and other friends and family near and far. Ev will be lovingly remembered by her father, Menno ’Merle’; her sisters, Grace, Renita, Arlene, Jeannette (Rob) and Shelley (John). Ev was an involved and proud Auntie to Sarah (Manny), Mark (Chris), Daniel, Graham, Josh (Kelsey), Erica (Ronald), Aaron (Danielle), Michael (Abi), David (Madi), and Cameron (Jordan). She was honoured to be a godmother to Aaron and treasured being a Great Auntie. Ev was blessed by her relationship with her special cousins, Bruce and Ramona. Ev faithfully tended connections to a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins in Canada, the United States and Holland. Ev was predeceased by her mother, Hendrika. The family is extremely grateful for the wonderful care and support she received at the Tofield Health Centre, as well as from Health Care professionals in Red Deer. A Celebration of Ev’s Life was held at First Christian Reformed Church, 16 McVicar Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. You were invited to wear bright colours or a favourite Oilers jersey.
