Mrs. Wilma Ross of Red Deer, beloved wife of Mr. Allan Ross, passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Hospice on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at the age of 66 years. Wilma was born on December 12, 1957, to Abram and Maria Reimer in St. Boniface, Manitoba. She was the tenth of eleven siblings. Wilma met Allan in Calgary, where they later married on July 6, 1985. Wilma and Allan went on to have two children, Chantele and Scott. With two children under wing, they took a transfer out to Burnaby, British Columbia, where Wilma raised her children and provided a day home for the Stouten Family. After nine years in Burnaby, they wanted to be closer to family, so they then took another transfer to Red Deer, Alberta, where they ended up residing. Wilma chose to continue to raise her children at home, while Allan continued to provide for the family. As the children no longer needed care at home, Wilma went on to work at a few different places, Loonie Lane/Art Worx, Waskasoo Towers, Parkland Party Rentals and lastly, the Tasty Bakery. Her passion was baking, and she would have loved to own her own bakery. Wilma loved baking, crocheting, gardening, cooking, sewing, road trips with her husband, and family gatherings with wiener roasts and watermelon. We can all attest to Wilma loving her watermelon, right down to the slush watermelon cups in Hospice. The most important love that Wilma had of all was the love that she had for her family and their dog, Duke. Family meant everything to her. Wilma will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Allan Ross; their children, Chantele (Jeff) Israelson and Scott Ross (Joanne Long); her brother, Dave; and her sisters, Linda, Jessie (Paul) Unger, and Joanne; as well as numerous family members and dear friends. Wilma was predeceased by her parents; her four brothers and her two sisters. Wilma fought an unbelievable battle against cancer for the last nine years. She was a warrior and fighter until the very end. It was her sense of humor and love for the Lord that made her persevere. As a family, we mourn the loss of a wife, mother, sister, auntie, cousin and friend. However, we all know that she is in Heaven with the Lord, at peace, relieved from all pain and suffering. A Private Celebration of Wilma’s Life will be held at a later date. If desired, Memorial Donations in Wilma’s honor may be made directly to the Red Deer Hospice Society at www.reddeerhospice.com, as they were truly Wilma’s Angels along with Cheryl Markovich before her passing.
