With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Mrs. Rowena Kathleen Emily Nixon on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at the age of 66 years. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family. Rowena was a beloved wife, grandmother, mother, sister, and friend who was known for her vibrant personality.
She was born on September 25, 1957, in Banff, Alberta. Rowena grew up with a love for figure skating and enjoyed skiing with her family as a child. In 1984, she married her husband, Charlie Nixon, and together they shared a life full of laughter and adventures. Rowena dedicated her life to being a homemaker, raising triplets with unwavering love and care. Rowena had a passion for traveling, reading and the arts of cross stitching and crocheting. She was a dog lover and found great joy in meeting new people and sharing stories of her life. As a Christian, Rowena found strength and solace in her faith, and she enjoyed being part of the community. Her infectious laughter and compassionate heart touched the lives of many. Rowena will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Charlie Nixon; her daughters, Katelyn, Kendra, and Katrina; her grandchildren, Isaiah, Hezekiah, and Tzion; and her brother, Robert (Witt) Lapper. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A Memorial Tea to honor and celebrate Rowena’s Life will be held at the CrossRoads Church Chapel, 38105 Range Rd 275, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, August 2, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if desired, Memorial Donations in Rowena’s honor may be made directly to the Central Alberta Humane Society at www.cahumane.com or to Fostering Hope Animal Rescue Foundation at www.fosteringhoperescue.com. There will also be a memory box for those who wish to leave notes and or letters. Rowena’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
