It is with great sadness that Craig’s family and dear friends announce the passing of Craig Dwight Masley on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at the Red Deer Hospice Society after a long and courageous fight with cancer at the age of 67 years. He never slowed down and didn’t allow the cancer to keep him off his tractor right up to the very end. Craig was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan on July 18, 1957 to proud parents, Mary and Morris Masley. He grew up in a farming community with three brothers and one sister and once completing school went to Yellowknife to work in the goldmines with a friend. Returning to Sturgis one year later, he met the love of the rest of his life, Rebbie Stalberg. They moved to Red Deer in 1980 where Craig started selling cars and trucks for Kipp Scott Pontiac Buick becoming Car Salesman of the Month in six short months! Craig successfully sold vehicles for twenty years obtaining Grand Sales Master with GMC. He opened an RV Storage on his acreage that continues to this day. He also started Westerner Campground with a partner in 2003 which also continues to this day. Craig and his partner also started operating Lions Campground ten years ago and Craig continued this until one year ago. Craig also enjoyed playing poker, once going to Montreal for a “World Poker Tour” tournament. The last number of years, he enjoyed playing poker in the garage with eight or nine of his buddies. Craig is well known for his vast collection of animal mounts in his home and mancave. One of his most prized possessions is his acreage with the multitude of antique farm machinery around the immaculate lawns and flower beds. Craig always made sure there were no weeds to be found. Craig and Rebbie raised three children and had three beautiful grandchildren. He was also a very active outdoorsman. Participating in hunting, fishing, river boating, boating, snowmobiling, mountain sledding and out on his Razor and then his CanAm side-by-side. The family enjoyed camping and Craig and Rebbie enjoyed many trips to the US with the motor home during the winter season. They also partook in several destinations to warm and sunny countries for vacations in the winter. Craig will be lovingly remembered by his wife of forty-six years, Rebbie and his children, Jon and Jessalynn; his grandsons, Asher, Axston and a granddaughter, Ambryn. He will be dearly missed by his brother, Perry (Shelley), Wade (Joan); sister Debbie, sister-in-law Lil, several nieces and nephews and their children, as well as sister-in-law, Robbie (Gary) and her daughters plus many, many dear friends Craig made over the years and got to know him. Craig was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Morris Masley and his brother Brian Masley.
