It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Flasch, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend to many, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at the age of 68 years.
Brian was born on September 24, 1957, in Kindersley, Saskatchewan. He spent his childhood growing up in Burstall, Leader, and Mendham, Saskatchewan, where he developed a love of sports and competition that would remain with him throughout his life. A gifted athlete, Brian excelled in many sports. Among his proudest accomplishments were winning a gold medal at the Saskatchewan Winter Games in volleyball in 1974 and playing baseball with the Unity Cardinals and later the Red Deer Riggers. His dedication to the sport was recognized when he was inducted into the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame on August 17, 2019.
Following graduation, Brian completed his plumbing apprenticeship and began his career in Unity, Saskatchewan. He later moved to Red Deer, Alberta, where he became a partner in Narwhal Plumbing & Heating. In 1989, Brian married the love of his life, Kathy. Together they built a life on their farm near Sylvan Lake, Alberta, where they raised their two sons, Joel and Cody.
Brian’s work eventually took him to Baffin Island, where he spent many years working before retiring in 2015. Despite the distance, his family always remained at the center of his life.
Brian enjoyed spending time golfing, riding horses, taking wagon rides through Southern Alberta, dancing, and sharing a cold beer and good conversation with friends. He was known for his hardworking nature, his sense of humor, and his ability to make lasting friendships wherever he went.
Brian leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Kathy, his sons, Joel and Cody, his father, Eugene Flasch, his brother, Grant (Donna) Flasch, his sister, Audrey Flasch, his sisters-in-law, Sharon (Pat) McMurray and Barb Merchant, his niece, Samantha McMurray, and his nephew, Karl McMurray. Brian was predeceased by his mother, Margaret Flasch. Brian will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of hard work, loyalty, friendship, and love for family will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind. A Celebration of Brian’s Life was held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67A Street (Taylor Drive) Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com.
