STEWART, Rita
1956 – 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rita Stewart on Monday, March 2, 2026 at the age of 70. Rita was born January 16, 1956 in Edmonton, Alberta. She grew up surrounded by her siblings, cousins and extended family with whom she shared many fond memories throughout her life.
Rita graduated from Harry Ainlay High School in 1974. Shortly afterwards she set out on an adventure, spending six months travelling across Europe. Upon returning to Canada, she married Barry Stewart April 16, 1977, beginning a life together centered around family. Rita spent many years working in accounts payable and receivable before discovering her true calling as a Hearing Aid Practitioner. Receiving her diploma from Grant MacEwan University in 2003; a milestone she was incredibly proud of. Helping others hear and reconnect with the world around them gave her a deep sense of purpose. Rita continued doing the work she loved at Hauck Vision and Hearing in Red Deer, Alberta up until her passing. Outside of her career, Rita loved exploring the world and creating new memories with those she cared about. She also enjoyed camping and quadding with friends and family. Above all, Rita cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren who brough her immense pride and happiness. Rita leaves behind and will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Barry Stewart, her three children, Jason Stewart (Tenille), Jessica Helkie (Chris), and Vanessa Stewart (Patrick), along with her six beloved grandchildren, her brother, Rudy Riebandt and sisters, Tabea Riebandt and Renate Redden (Dwight) and many extended family members. She was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Margot Riebandt. Rita will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and quiet way she cared for the people in her life. A Private Family Celebration will be held at a later date. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com
