Mrs. Debbra Marie Becker Matthie of Innisfail, Alberta passed away after a short but fierce battle with
Lymphoma at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at the young age of 66 years. Debbie was a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and dear friend to many. She leaves behind her husband of thirty-five years, George, whom she planned to share their newfound retirement freedom with. The two spent a lifetime building their lives together while creating a beautiful family and home. Throughout the years, Debbie spent countless hours volunteering for various school and after-school programs and partaking in an uncountable number of creative outlets be it quilting, scrapbooking, or painting – you name it, she did it. Her most recent love of quilting provided her with the opportunity to act as a founding member of the Wild Rose Country Quilters and join the Central Alberta Quilters Guild, where she enjoyed the social and community work for charities with these two dynamic guilds. She also became a certified Gem Affiliate, qualified to teach gemstone quilt patterns from her favorite artist, and was teaching classes at the Urban Farmhouse Fabric Store in Red Deer. Debbie was a dedicated mother who doted on her two children and did all that she could to stay close to them as they went through school, always working nearby or even right in the school. She spent her time enjoying her children as they grew and was always ready to share a positive story or two about them whenever prompted. She was a loving fur mama to her cat, Oscar and grandma to her three fur babies, Dakoda, Buddy and Xena, always bringing them a Timbit when she would come home. We will miss her so much, but we now have a guardian angel. Debbra will be lovingly remembered by her husband, George Matthie, her children, Melana Matthie (Mykel Robinson), Austin Matthie, her mother, Irene Becker, her siblings, Randy Becker and Lynda Becker, and her nephew, Chris Becker (Randy’s son). Debbra was predeceased by her father, Kenneth Roger Becker and a son, Kenneth Carl Matthie.
