It is with great sadness that the family of Jacinta Cormier announces her sudden passing on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre at the age of 70.
Jacinta, better known as “Jace” to her family and friends, was loved deeply by her family, cherished by all who knew her, and will be remembered as having the voice of an angel.
Born and raised in Stephenville, Newfoundland, Jacinta was a talented musician from a young age. She loved singing, acting, and songwriting. Throughout her life, she performed on CBC programs, appeared in movies, and received numerous awards for her talents. Her music took her across Canada, where she shared her gift with countless audiences. A wonderful storyteller, Jacinta had a remarkable ability to entertain those around her. She especially enjoyed spending time with seniors and left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Although the piano was her first love, Jacinta also played the ukulele and accordion, and she could pick up just about any instrument with ease.
Jacinta will be lovingly remembered by her father, Adolph (Marlene); her brothers, Michael and Francis (Sherri); her sisters, Anne (Blaine), Barb (Bill), and Tanya; her stepbrother, Danny (Suzanne); her stepsister, Candace (Lori); and her many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her mother, Anastasia (Downey); her brother, Stephen; her sister, Michelle; and her stepbrother, Monty.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be announced and held at a later date.
If desired, memorial donations may be made directly to a charity of one’s choice in Jacinta’s memory.
“She walked a road of her own design.
Where shadows bend and stars align.
No map to guide, no crowd to follow.
She chased the high and crossed the hollow.
Now the path goes quiet, still and deep.
Where tired feet are laid to sleep.”
