With heavy hearts and tears in our eyes we announce the passing of Ron from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on July 22, 2021. Ron was born and raise on the family farm named Blue Jay Hereford Farm in Olds, AB. Ron completed high school in Olds and later went on to get his mechanic’s ticket and eventually gained his B. Comm degree from the University of Calgary. Ron enjoyed a long career in Dawson Creek, Campbell River and Ft. McMurray. Ron is survived by his loving wife Leanne; children Jessica (Taylor), Brianna (Kurt), Justin (Tegan); seven grandchildren as well as two on the way this fall; brothers Howard (Donna), Don (Elaine); sisters Marlene (Geoff), Judy (Bruce) and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Warren and Margaret Smith. Ron will be fondly missed by dozens of friends, co-workers, and acquaintances. Besides his family and friends Ron also enjoyed golf, his motorcycle, his work and collecting (tasting) scotch. Ron was an intelligent man with an opinion on everything and wasn’t shy in expressing it.
