Cheryll Ann Simoni died with grace, love and peace at the Red Deer hospital on January 19, 2022 at the age of 66 years old. Her husband, Fred, her daughter, Natasha, and her son, Nicolas, were at her bedside when her soul took flight. Cheryll was born in Stettler, AB, on March 23rd, 1955 as the firstborn child of Bill and Ellen Streit. She would be blessed with four younger siblings whom she cared for deeply and shared many happy memories with; Kim Streit, Loree Dittrich, Kevin Streit, and Kelly Streit. She attended Stettler Elementary, Junior and Senior High School. Cheryll was “Miss Best Dressed” in her high school yearbook and enjoyed fashion and decorating her entire life. She was a girl guide and with her parents being in the bowling business she won a provincial medal with the Stettler girls bowling provincial team. Cheryll loved to dance. She took a few dancing courses in her life and never passed up an opportunity to dance! After high school, Cheryll moved to Edmonton to work at the Royal Bank’s main branch on Jasper Avenue. Soon after starting to work, Cheryll got the travel bug and decided to see some other parts of the world. She met the love of her life, Fred Simoni, in Scotland. After meeting him numerous times at different youth hostels, they fell in love and decided to move to Paris, Fred’s “hometown.” While dating Fred, Cheryll decided to take a 3 month course in Parisian French so they could communicate better. They fell deeper in love and decided to move to Edmonton and get married in Stettler, AB at Christ the King Catholic Church on April 30th, 1976. Fred and Cheryll moved to Innisfail in 1978 when they were blessed to be pregnant with their firstborn, Nicolas (born in 1979). Innisfail became their permanent home after an adventurous trip to Europe and Israel. In 1981, their beloved daughter, Natasha, was born. After Nicolas and Natasha were both in school, Cheryll began working at the Bank of Nova Scotia, then eventually to work at ATB and finished her career after 27 years at the Innisfail ATB branch. Cheryll was a representative for the union with ATB during her career. Her deepest passion was her faith, love for God and love for family. Cheryll served faithfully at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Innisfail in numerous capacities. From helping found youth ministry to decorating the parish Christmas tree, Cheryll found joy in serving Jesus in her community. One of her favourite acts of service was being Mrs. Claus for the festival of trees. She loved her family and friends deeply. One of Cheryll’s greatest joys was celebrating and hosting parties with family and friends. She had decorations for every season and occasion. Fred and Cheryll enjoyed travelling the world together after they retired. “Family First” was a constant motto for Cheryll and she will be deeply missed by her husband, children and grandchildren. “Nanny” was actively involved in the life of all her grandchildren. She cherished them and spoiled them at every occasion. We thank you Lord for the gift of Cheryll. What an amazing woman, mother and wife. Cheryll is survived by her grandchildren Ava, Felicity, Lacie, Jerome, Jude, Rafael, Katerina and Angele; her children Nicolas Simoni (Sarah) and Natasha Doyle (Colin); husband Fred Simoni; mother Ellen Streit and siblings Kim Streit, Loree Dittrich, Kevin Streit and Kelly Streit. We love you and we miss you Nanny! You fought the good fight, you’ve finished the race, now up with the Lord you take your glorious place. Wisdom 3:1-9
