HUARD, Richard
1954 – 2026
Richard ‘Rick’ Robert Huard passed away peacefully at home in Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, January 1, 2026 at the age of 71 years. Richard was born on October 29, 1954 in Oshawa, Ontario. He grew up in North Bay, Ontario with nine other siblings, where he enjoyed schooling, playing hockey, along with his mother stating he was a “runner” tying him to a clothesline. Many years later he graduated from the Winafield High School. He then went off to college at Canador College to become an RNA with honors. He worked at the Civil Hospital as an RNA until 1988 then worked in construction until 1990 and became an EMT shortly after. In 1991, his partner, Kerry Tackney found out she was pregnant with their daughter, Ashley. Their family went from a trio to family of four, when Monica welcomed her little sister, Ashley in December of 1991. Rick decided along with his family to make the big move to Red Deer, Alberta to give his family a better life. In 1998, Richard became a proud Grandpa to Jaden Petit from his eldest daughter, Monica and her partner, Pierre Petit. In 2002, Rick became a grandpa again to Keenan Petit. In 2004, Rick moved forward with working in construction and maintenance along with many hobbies such as fishing and gardening throughout the years. In 2021, he welcomed a granddaughter, Arayva Kocyba into his life from his youngest daughter, Ashley and her husband, Stephen. From 2021 to 2026he continued to share parts of his life with his family showing us in ways that family is what life is all about. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Rick will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Ashley (Stephen) Kocyba and Monica (Pierre) Petit; his grandchildren, Jaden (Calisha Petit) and Keenan Petit (Jenessa Meier); and Arayva Kocyba.
