Mrs. Deborah Mae Hansen, known to nearly everyone as Debbie, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 21, 2026, in Innisfail, Alberta, at the age of 71 years.
Debbie was born in Edmonton on August 14, 1954, and grew up in Grimshaw, Alberta, the daughter of Lloyd and Winnie Grieve. She spent most of her working life in Calgary, where she built a career across two helping professions, first as a Practical Nurse, then as a specialist with the Calgary Board of Education supporting children with disabilities. In retirement, she and Frank lived in Calgary, Olds, and Innisfail, with winters spent in Casa Grande, Arizona, and she made lasting friendships in every community she called home.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-two years, Frank Hansen of Innisfail; her son, Brian Hansen of Calgary; and her sisters, Darlene and Tanis. She was predeceased by her parents, Lloyd and Winnie Grieve, and her brother, Brian.
In keeping with her wishes, no formal service will be held. Debbie has been cremated. In lieu of flowers or donations, those wishing to honor her memory are invited to extend a kindness to someone who needs it.
