DYCK, Larry Donald
1954–2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Mr. Larry Dyck on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. Larry was a cherished partner, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend whose warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Larry was born on June 13, 1954, in Yorkton, Saskatchewan—the third of four children to Henry and Freida Dyck. He moved to the Red Deer area in 1969 and worked various jobs before landing on the oil rigs. After many years working in the oilfield, he changed his career path and became a Journeyman Pipefitter, which remained his passion until he retired. Larry was a kind and loving person who enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking, and being outdoors. However, his greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. He was always there to lend a helping hand or just to shoot the breeze. A man of few words, his actions revealed his true character. Whether cheering on the sidelines at little league games, attending family gatherings, or helping someone in need, he was always present. Larry’s passions extended to his motorcycle and loved riding at any given opportunity. Larry was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Freida Dyck; his brother, Herb Dyck; and his bonus daughter, Angela Lajeunesse. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his partner and best friend, Judy Lajeunesse. He is survived by his daughters Angela Sutherland (Allan), Teressa Dyck, and JoAnne Dyck; whose lives and hearts will be forever changed in memory of their father. He was a proud grandfather to Taylor, Teeghan, Ajaira, and Adell. Larry is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy Tokarchak of High River and Leonore McEwen of Red Deer, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Larry also shared an unbreakable bond with his extended family: Mike Lajeunesse (Lee-Anne), Diane Shannon (Darcy), and Rob Lajeunesse (Kelly). He was embraced as a bonus grandfather to Danielle Link (Ryan), Breanna Lajeunesse (Kyle), Robyn Webber (Dylan), Chase, Braden, Gage, and Akayla Lajeunesse. He was a loving great-grandfather to Emerson, Cohen, Everly, Emmett, and Braelyn—all of whom will miss his presence and generous heart. Larry had a special place in his heart for all his friends, especially Frank and Darlene Ford of Red Deer and Lyle and Sandy Link of Bentley. Larry loved his family and extended family with all his heart. He loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. His sudden departure leaves a deep void in the lives of those who loved him. He is gone but never forgotten, forever in our heart and memories. The family will honour Larry’s life with a Celebration of Life at a later date. Details will be shared once arrangements have been made. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
