Lloyd Thomas Paul of Red Deer, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Hospice on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at the age of 72 years. Lloyd was born at Spiritwood, Saskatchewan, when he was very young the family moved to Debden, Saskatchewan, which he considered his hometown. He enjoyed an adventurous childhood romping around Debden with his best buddies. His most memorable teenage experiences were playing drums in the band and the great times he spent with one or another of his older brothers working on various farms and ranches in Saskatchewan and southern Alberta.
In the early 1970’s, at the urging of his cousins, Lloyd made the move to Red Deer, Alberta to work in the booming oil industry. Throughout his long career in “The Patch”, both on service and drilling rigs he forged many wonderful friendships. Lloyd was highly regarded in the drilling industry for his knowledge, work ethic and dedication by both those he worked for and the crews he supervised.
Over the years, Lloyd and Lois enjoyed several trips to visit family in Nova Scotia. He loved the Bay of Fundy and all the scrumptious seafood it provided. His retirement was spent hunting, golfing and making some extra special fishing trips to Jan Lake, Saskatchewan.
Lloyd is lovingly remembered by his wife of thirty-nine years, Lois Davidson-Paul, and is survived by his brothers, Mervin (Judy) of Edmonton, Alberta, and Wayne (Marlene) of Blaine Lake, Saskatchewan, his sister-in-law, Evelyn Paul of Christopher Lake, Saskatchewan, his brothers-in-law, Russell Davidson of Victoria Harbour, Nova Scotia, Ronald Davidson (Linda) of Orleans, Ontario, David Davidson of Aylesford, Nova Scotia, and sister-in-law, Barbara Mac Quarrie (Bill) of Chance Harbour, Nova Scotia. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Dorothy Paul, brothers, Lawrence Paul and Percy Paul, sister, Linda Ahenakew, nephew, Jamie Paul, sister-in-law, Sheila Davidson, and brother-in-law, Roderick L. Davidson.
