Carol Rose Hudec
November 1, 1954 – March 28, 2026
Carol Rose Hudec (née Weigel) passed away peacefully in Olds, Alberta, on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the age of 71, leaving behind a life full of love, kindness, and generosity.
Born on November 1, 1954, in Leader, Saskatchewan, and raised in Fox Valley, life on the farm taught Carol the value of hard work, while nurturing a compassionate heart that would define her throughout her life. On November 9, 1974, she married the love of her life, Jim Hudec, and together they built a life centered on family, friendship, and service.
Carol was a beloved presence in the Sundre community. She spent many years supporting River Valley School in administrative roles, where her warmth and welcoming spirit left a lasting impression on colleagues, students, and families alike. A devoted member of her church and the Catholic Women’s League, Carol lived her faith through acts of generosity, always ready with a helping hand, a kind word, or a smile.
Family was at the heart of Carol’s life. She cherished time with her children, Jeremy (Laura) and Andrea, and her grandsons Mason, Shea, and Spencer, who brought her endless joy. Her home was always a place of comfort, laughter, and the irresistible aroma of something she had baked with love. Carol had a talent for making people feel cared for, whether through her baking, her thoughtful notes, or simply listening with her whole heart.
Carol found joy in the simple pleasures: sewing, curling, digging for worms with her grandsons, gardening, exploring garage sales for hidden treasures, enjoying long walks, a good book, or even a new flavor of ice cream. She approached life with a joyful spirit, warmth, and a generous heart that touched everyone she met.
Though dementia took much from Carol in her final years, it could never erase the love she gave, the warmth she shared, or the joy she brought into the lives of those who knew her. Her family takes comfort knowing she is free from pain and is now at peace and embraced by endless light.
Carol is survived by her loving husband, Jim; her children, Jeremy (Laura) and Andrea (Rob); and her cherished grandsons, Mason, Shea, and Spencer. She also leaves behind countless friends, and family members whose lives were made brighter by her kindness and presence. She was predeceased by her parents, Valerian and Catherine (Kay) Weigel.
A funeral mass and celebration of Carol’s life will be held at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, 4302 – 57 Avenue, Olds, Alberta on Friday, April 17 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a light lunch at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #105, 5241 – 46 Street, Olds, Alberta. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Carol’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
